ABOUT
Caris Bizzaca is a storyteller working across multiple areas including journalism, podcasting, fiction, and screenwriting. With more than 17 years' experience as a journalist, researcher and interviewer, her writing has appeared in major mastheads including The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Herald Sun, and she has worked with Australian Associated Press (AAP), AFTRS and NFSA.
As the in-house Content Producer at Screen Australia, she pioneered the the Screen Australia Podcast and was creator/producer/host of more than 100 episodes with more than 230,000 streams, as well as managing editorial output on their online publication Screen News. She has also moderated panels at Screen Forever, Video Junkee, Series Mania and Sydney Film Festival.
In the screen industry, she has worked in television writers' rooms as a note-taker for companies including See-Saw Films, Easy Tiger Productions, Wooden Horse, Goalpost Pictures and more, and she is currently developing her own series.
In 2020, she was selected to take part in the Kill Your Darlings (KYD) mentorship program and was paired with author Graeme Simsion (The Rosie Project). In August 2022, from an original field of 6,200 writers worldwide, she placed 2nd in the NYC Short Story Competition. Her short story 'Healed' was published in the 2023 anthology Soak by Brio Books and she holds a Master of Arts (Creative Writing) from UTS.

Content Producer, Screen Australia

Screen Australia’s in-house Content Producer, responsible for the creation of articles and podcasts, managing the editorial calendar and strategy, and conducting video interviews for Screen Australia's in-house publication Screen News. As the creator, producer and host of the Screen Australia Podcast, conducted in-depth interviews and edited them into entertaining and informative episodes about the Australian screen industry. Episodes became fortnight in 2020 and it experienced a 360% growth in streams from 2019-2021. By June 2023, 114 episodes had been published with more than 235,000 streams.
Responsibilities included:
Managing Screen Australia's editorial output.
End-to-end production of the Screen Australia podcast, from hosting to recording and editing each fortnightly episode.
Wrote profiles, features, industry news and analysis pieces for Screen News.
Commissioned and sub-edited articles for Screen News

Managed stakeholder relationships.
Wrote the Screen Australia Editorial Strategy, Style Guide, and assisted in writing corporate communications including the Annual Report.
